A Romantic Columbus Wedding: Celebrating Second Chances in Love
Week after week, our team has the honor of showcasing extraordinary weddings from across Columbus, each one a reflection of thoughtful planning, meaningful moments, and a talented community of vendors. Each month, we select one standout celebration that captures something truly special.
This month, we are highlighting a wedding that beautifully reminds us: there is no timeline on love. This couple’s story—one that began years ago and found its way back at just the right moment—set the tone for a celebration that was as meaningful as it was unforgettable.
With just six months to plan, the couple, alongside an exceptional vendor team led by SoCo 36 Events, brought their vision to life with intention, creativity, and undeniable joy.
How the Couple Met – A Love Story That Came Full Circle
This love story began long before the wedding day. As high school sweethearts, the couple first fell in love early in life before eventually going their separate ways.
Years later, their paths crossed again at a deeply emotional moment, reconnecting at a family funeral. What could have remained a brief reunion instead became something much more, reigniting a connection that proved their story was never truly finished.
A Columbus Wedding Planned in Just 6 Months
Planning a wedding in a condensed timeline can feel overwhelming—but with the right team, it can also be incredibly rewarding.
In just six months, this couple and their planner, Sara of SoCo 36 Events, curated a celebration that felt thoughtful, seamless, and deeply personal. Every decision was made with intention, allowing the couple to stay present and fully enjoy the experience along the way.
Thoughtful Wedding Design with Elevated Details
Surrounded by their closest family and friends, the couple gathered to celebrate a love that had come full circle. From the very beginning of the day, there was a sense of presence and appreciation—an understanding that this moment had been years in the making.
A Beautifully Designed Columbus Wedding Reception
The morning began with a calm and joyful energy as the couple prepared alongside loved ones. Beauty by The Lovely Artistry Collective created polished, timeless looks, while Kismet Visuals documented each meaningful moment with care. Behind-the-scenes content captured by Newlywed Social Club and The Brunette Chick ensured no detail or emotion was missed.
Guests arrived seamlessly with transportation by Concierge Granville, setting the tone for a smooth and welcoming experience. The ceremony itself was filled with emotion—a reflection of a love that had endured time, distance, and life’s unexpected turns.
Layered Design Details and Unique Reception Elements
The reception design struck a perfect balance between elegance and warmth. Draping by Serendipity Designs transformed the space, while rentals from GYC Linens, Reverie Social, Sage Hill Rentals, Aiden & Grace, and Borrow layered in texture and refinement—including a gorgeous canoe display and thoughtfully styled details that created a truly immersive environment.
Tenting by Aable Rents created an inviting atmosphere, complemented by lush, romantic florals from Village Flower Basket that brought softness and cohesion to the entire design.
Interactive Food Experiences with Cannolis & Late-Night Taco Truck
A Stunning Wedding Charcuterie Display
If there was one thing guests couldn’t stop talking about, it was the food—and the way it came to them.
Guests were welcomed with a stunning charcuterie display by R + M Boards, serving as both a visual centerpiece and a place to gather and graze throughout the evening.
Roaming Cannoli Service
Then came one of the most memorable experiences of the night, Cameron Mitchell brought the dessert to life with a roaming cannoli service, where a dedicated server moved throughout the reception hand-filling cannolis on the spot and serving them directly to guests.
Fresh, customized, and delivered in the moment, it created an experience that felt both elevated and incredibly fun—one of those details guests will be talking about long after the wedding.
Late-Night Taco Truck
As the celebration carried on, Tic Tac Taco rolled in as a late-night surprise, serving up fresh tacos that brought everyone back together and kept the dance floor alive well into the night.
It was the perfect blend of refined and relaxed—an experience guests won’t soon forget.
A High-Energy Reception & Fireworks Finale
As the evening unfolded, the energy only grew stronger. Entertainment by Josh Staley Productions kept the dance floor full, creating a vibrant, joy-filled atmosphere that reflected the spirit of the couple and their guests.
Then came a truly unforgettable moment.
A stunning fireworks display by Rozzi Fireworks lit up the night sky—a breathtaking finale that felt symbolic of the couple’s journey. Bold, emotional, and beautiful, it was the perfect ending to a day that had been so long in the making.
Wedding Planning Advice from the Bride
Why Hiring a Wedding Planner Makes All the Difference
Reflecting on the experience, the bride shared a simple yet powerful takeaway: “It takes a team to execute the perfect day.”
When asked for advice to other couples, her answer was just as clear: “Book a planner.” With the guidance of their planner, Sara of SoCo 36, who brought curated options and an intuitive understanding of their vision, the couple was able to truly enjoy their wedding day without stress.
Final Thoughts
This celebration is a reminder that love doesn’t follow a schedule. Sometimes the most meaningful beginnings come after time apart, life experience, and unexpected reunions. And when the moment finally arrives, it’s worth celebrating fully, intentionally, and without hesitation.
“Our favorite part of our wedding day was how beautifully intimate our ceremony felt. We were surrounded only by our closest family, our siblings, our children, the people who know us best and love us most. As we stood there exchanging vows, it felt quiet in the most meaningful way, like the world paused just for us. It was simple, heartfelt, and exactly what we needed.”
This wedding so beautifully proves—it’s never too late to have the wedding of your dreams.
