Why This Wedding Stands Out

Sara and Colton’s wedding was centered around authenticity and intentionality. While The Ohio Statehouse provided a grand backdrop, the couple wanted the day to feel warm, relaxed and true to who they are.

“Sara and Colton were such a fun couple to work with,” says Jennifer Kontomerkos, owner of Finer Things Event Planning. “They truly wanted their wedding day to feel authentic and intentional. The day was easy going just like the two of them.”

One particularly special touch was the inclusion of peonies from Sara’s mother’s garden in her bridal bouquet, creating a beautiful connection between family and the wedding day itself.

Jennifer shared that Sara’s elegant style inspired many of the design elements, from the beautiful florals to the soft blue tones incorporated throughout the celebration. Every detail was carefully selected to complement the historic architecture of The Ohio Statehouse while creating a romantic and timeless atmosphere.

The Design Vision & Wedding Palette

The design vision blended classic elegance with soft spring romance. Dalay Ket Event Design created florals that enhanced the grandeur of the venue while maintaining a refined and intimate feel.

Soft shades of blue appeared throughout the celebration, adding subtle color while allowing the venue’s historic details to shine. BBJ La Tavola linens, specialty glassware from Aiden and Grace and elegant seating from Rent Wedding Chairs helped create a layered guest experience filled with texture and sophistication.

The combination of timeless florals, elevated rentals and historic architecture resulted in a design that felt effortlessly elegant and uniquely personal to the couple.

Bridal Style & Fashion Details

Sara’s bridal fashion was one of the standout elements of the day. She wore an Antonio Gual gown from Gilded Social, a Columbus bridal boutique known for its curated collection of designer gowns and personalized styling experience.

In addition to helping Sara find her dress, Gilded Social provided steaming concierge and gown preservation services, ensuring every detail of her bridal look was flawless throughout the day.

The groom wore Generation Tux, creating a polished and classic look that paired beautifully with the formal setting. Beauty services were provided by Glam by Izabel, Sarah Mohre and Makeup by Tatum, completing Sara’s timeless bridal style.

Ceremony & Reception Experience

Guests experienced a wedding day designed around connection, hospitality and celebration. Hosting both the ceremony and reception at The Ohio Statehouse allowed the day to flow seamlessly while giving guests the opportunity to fully enjoy the historic setting.

Food and beverage played an important role throughout the celebration. Guests enjoyed custom cocktails, an elevated dinner service from Milo’s Catering and a beautiful wedding cake from Le Gateau. Later in the evening, Graeter’s ice cream and a late-night taco bar from Dos Hermanos added a fun and memorable touch.
