Why This Wedding Stands Out

Jane and Kevin’s story began long before their wedding day. They first met as teammates on Xavier University’s cross country and track and field team in the fall of 2016. After spending their first year as teammates and best friends, they began dating. Their wedding marked the next chapter in a relationship built on friendship, shared experiences and years of growing together.

The couple’s approach to planning also gave their celebration deeper meaning. Rather than becoming focused on creating a flawless event, they kept their attention on the commitment at the heart of the day.

“Planning is much more enjoyable when you remember the goal isn’t a perfect wedding, it’s preparing for a lifetime together,” Jane shared.

That mindset carried into the wedding itself. Jane and Kevin trusted their creative team, embraced the day as it unfolded and made space to enjoy the people and moments surrounding them.

The Design Vision & Wedding Palette

A palette of soft pink, white and fresh greenery brought a romantic garden feeling to Revery’s modern rooftop setting. The Flowerman designed arrangements filled with roses, ranunculus, dahlias, delicate chamomile-style blooms and layered greenery. The florals appeared throughout the bouquets, ceremony installations and reception tables, connecting each part of the celebration.

White linens and pale pink napkins kept the tables bright, while clear ghost chairs allowed the flowers and skyline views to remain the visual focus. Elevated arrangements added dimension to the reception, and lower floral pieces created an inviting atmosphere across the long tables.

Personalized details made the design feel specific to Jane and Kevin. Custom matchboxes featured their names, wedding date and illustrated oyster motifs, while a fine-art-inspired seating display paired handwritten-style lettering with wax seals. A white tiered wedding cake by Enticing Icings featured ornate piping and a pair of swans as the topper, adding another romantic detail to the reception.

Bridal Style & Fashion Details

Jane selected a Jenny Yoo wedding gown from La Jeune Mariee Bridal Collection. The strapless gown featured a sculptural floral-inspired bodice, a full skirt and a sweeping train that created a refined statement against both Revery’s rooftop views and the marble architecture used for the couple’s portraits.

She completed her look with dimensional floral heels, pearl jewelry, a beaded evening bag and a long veil. Le Rêve Makeup & Hair created her polished half-up hairstyle and softly defined makeup, while also providing hair and makeup services for the wedding party.

The bridesmaids wore soft pink dresses in complementary silhouettes and carried smaller versions of Jane’s white and blush bouquet. Kevin chose a classic black tuxedo with a black bow tie and white boutonniere, creating a timeless contrast to the celebration’s pastel palette.

Ceremony & Reception Experience

Jane and Kevin hosted both their ceremony and reception at Revery, allowing guests to experience the venue’s light-filled rooftop setting without traveling between locations. Floor-to-ceiling glass surrounded the celebration with views of Columbus, while the floral installations introduced softness and color to the contemporary space.

Milo’s Catering provided the catering and bartending, and Josh Staley Productions supported the evening through entertainment and lighting. The Finer Things Event Planning provided three-month planning support and helped coordinate the details leading into the celebration.

The couple especially appreciated the calm, supportive presence of their planner and photographer.

“We could not have had a day as seamless and stress-free as ours was without the help of Jennifer from Finer Things Event Planning,” Jane shared. “Her attention to detail and thoughtful guidance made our day everything we dreamed of.”

She also praised Larralyn of Queen Anne’s Lace Photography, sharing that her calm presence helped the couple feel relaxed and fully present while she preserved the joy of the day.

Planning Takeaways From This Wedding

  • Keep the purpose of the celebration at the center of the planning process rather than striving for perfection.
  • A soft pink, white and green palette complements the natural light and skyline views of a glass-enclosed venue.
  • Hosting the ceremony and reception in one location can create an easier transition for guests.
  • Pair elevated floral installations with lower arrangements to add dimension without making every table feel identical.
  • Personalized details, such as custom matchboxes or an artistic seating display, can make an elegant wedding feel distinctly connected to the couple.
  • Choose experienced vendors whose presence helps you feel calm, supported and able to enjoy the day.

Jane’s advice to other couples reflects the spirit of their celebration:

“Give yourself permission to stop caring about what you can’t control. The dress will get dirty, the timeline will shift, and maybe the rain will feel romantic! Be present and feel the joy that surrounds you!”
