Wedding Weekend Rooted in Connection

Leah and Conner’s wedding weekend at Retreat 21 in Marysville, Ohio, was a refreshing reminder that wedding days don’t have to feel rushed or overwhelming to be meaningful. From the start, their celebration was intentionally designed to feel calm, connected, and full of joy. With loved ones traveling from across the United States, the couple’s priority was clear: create a weekend where everyone could slow down, be present, and truly enjoy time together.

Now living in Denver, Colorado, Leah and Conner wanted their wedding to feel less like a single-day event and more like a shared experience. With thoughtful planning by SoCo 36, the weekend flowed effortlessly, allowing moments to unfold naturally rather than feeling tightly scheduled. This approach allowed both the couple and their guests to savor each part of the celebration without feeling pulled in different directions.

The Perfect Setting at Retreat 21

Retreat 21 provided the perfect setting for Leah and Conner’s vision. Nestled among seven acres of greenery, with a peaceful pond and open landscape, the venue created a romantic yet grounding atmosphere. Guests were encouraged to relax, explore the property, and settle into the weekend, immediately setting the tone for connection and ease.

The venue’s spacious layout allowed for a variety of gatherings throughout the weekend, making it easy for guests to mingle, share stories, and build new friendships in a natural and unforced way.

A Weekend Designed for Togetherness

Family and friendship were at the heart of Leah and Conner’s celebration. The weekend began with a casual meet-and-greet, bringing everyone together in a relaxed setting before the wedding day. This early opportunity to connect helped guests feel comfortable and present, strengthening the sense of community that carried through the entire celebration.

Leah and Conner were equally mindful of their own experience. Portrait sessions were intentionally scheduled in short intervals, allowing them to step away briefly for photos while still spending the majority of the day with their guests. In fact, they spent more than 80% of their wedding day interacting with friends and family.

Thoughtful Design and Elevated Details

Design details throughout the weekend felt elevated yet effortless. Florals by Fiori Florals complemented the natural surroundings, adding texture and beauty without overpowering the space. Linens from BBJ La Tavola brought refined layers to the reception design, while Leah’s gown by Kyha Studios, found at B. Loved Bridal Boutique, fit seamlessly into the relaxed, modern aesthetic of the day. Beauty services by Makeup by Tatum completed a timeless and polished look.

Each design choice enhanced the experience rather than distracting from it, allowing the people and the moments to remain the focus.

An Evening Full of Joy and Celebration

As the sun dipped below the horizon, the celebration transitioned into an evening filled with laughter, music, and movement. The reception balanced heartfelt moments with high-energy fun, as the Blue Water Kings Band kept the dance floor lively late into the night. Guests also enjoyed thoughtful hospitality touches, including a coffee bar from Two Tigers Coffee.

One of the most memorable moments came at the end of the night, when Leah, Conner, and their closest friends made a spontaneous jump into the pond. Carefree and joyful, the moment perfectly captured the spirit of the weekend and the couple’s desire for a relaxed, experience-driven celebration.

A Story Captured with Heart

Every moment of the weekend was beautifully documented by Queen Anne’s Lace Photography, whose imagery captured not only how the day looked, but how it felt. From quiet, emotional exchanges to joyful bursts of celebration, the gallery tells a story that feels timeless, natural, and full of heart.

Leah and Conner’s wedding at Retreat 21 was more than a ceremony—it was a heartfelt gathering centered on presence, connection, and love. Their celebration serves as a reminder that when couples prioritize meaningful experiences over rigid timelines, the result is a wedding weekend that lingers long after the final song.
